Louis van Gaal's Manchester United:10 damning facts

After a 100% win rate in pre-season and a flurry of majorly exciting new recruits, Manchester United fans had every right to feel optimistic about the forthcoming Premier League season. Louis van Gaal was deemed the right man to airbrush the miserable previous 12 months out of the clubs history, leaving the whole David Moyes blunder just a horrible dream that everybody can wake up from. But, after just five league games the same cracks that Mr Moyes kept stumbling over look to be resurfacing as Manchester United slumped to a 5-3 defeat away at newly promoted Leicester City. A lot was made of the constant stream of unwanted records that Moyes consistently claimed during his tenure at Old Trafford but is he LvG doing much better? Here are the 10 facts every Manchester United fan will hate: 1. Leaky at the back Before yesterday Manchester United had never conceded 4 or more goals in a PL game against a newly-promoted side. In fact, even David Moyes never saw United concede more than four in the league. 2. #MoyesIn In his first five games last season David Moyes had accumulated seven league points, Louis van Gaal has only managed five and is sitting 4 positions lower in the table. 3. It's a squad game LvG is taking a leaf out of Fergie's rotational book, Manchester United have used 27 players in the league this season so far - more than any other side in the division. 4. Things can only get better United fans won't need reminding but this has been their worst start to a Premier League season ; two defeats, two draws, one victory, five points. 5. Legacy All Alex Ferguson's hard work disappeared on a Sunday afternoon in Leicester. For the first time in their 853-game Premier League history, Manchester United threw away a two goal lead to lose. 6. Angel's dream ruined After splashing a British record transfer fee of £59.7m big ones on Angel Di Maria, the Argentinian brought with him goals, assists and one amazing statistic... Since playing in Europe, Di Maria has never lost a league game in which he's scored... until yesterday that is. 6. Out Foxed Manchester United had never before conceded more than three goals to a newly-promoted side. 7. He's the Don Manchester United began their League Cup campaign in the second round with some of the football league minnows, but not to worry, they haven't lost to a third tier team since 1995. Oh, 4-0... 8. Swan dive LvG handed a first league win for Swansea at Old Trafford ever. In fact, it's the first opening home game defeat Manchester United have suffered for 42 years. 9. Bore Draw Previously Burnley had never drawn a game 0-0 in their Premier League history. After their stalemate with Manchester United Burnley now had 3 nil-nil draws in a row. 10. Take me home It is the first time in 13 years Manchester United have gone 5 away games without a win.
